Ardbeg Scorch is a limited edition release in honor of Ardbeg Day, which is held annually on the final Saturday of Islay’s Festival of Music and Malt. The Ardbeg Day release varies each year and by general and Committee Release (with the latter released in smaller quantities, a month earlier and at higher proof) and for 2021, the bottling pays homage to the myth of a dragon, said to inhabit the Scottish island of Islay, the home of Ardbeg. "...this fiercely delicious dram is the mouthwatering product of Ardbeg’s own flavor-breathing beast, who dwells in Dunnage Warehouse No. 3, scorching staves and burning barrels..." It has been matured in heavily charred ex-bourbon American oak casks for an unspecified amount of time. This Committee Release of Ardbeg Scorch will be available to buy from Ardbeg Embassies, whisky specialists, online retailers and from the Distillery Visitor Center on May 1 and is bottled at 51.7% ABV.
