Back in 1989 I was a waiter in a trendy Baltimore restaurant named Churchills. We were one of those Continental/French white table cloth establishments. It was named after Winston Churchill. The owner asked me what I drank. I told him I liked beer and Manhattans. He offered me scotch, not Glenlivet, Johnnie Walker or Pinch Dimple that were very popular at the time. Mr. Auty poured me a shot of The Macallan 18 distilled 1971 and he said try this. It was silk in a glass. Here I am a black kid from the Inner City tasting the best scotch in the world. I was hooked in 1989 and 32-years later I'm still hooked on The Macallan!
